About Me

IMG_0825

Hi, I’m Clara and welcome to my blog! I live in beautiful Nova Scotia, Canada as an actor, singer, teacher, but most of all: an eater! Living in an inspiring place has always sparked my creativity and passion for all forms of art. Including the art of food! But not just any food; vegan and gluten-free, mouth-watering masterpieces!

The journey to finding this lifestyle was a rocky one, I must admit. I suffer from dissociative identity disorder (DID) or complex PTSD, if you prefer. It was previously (and perhaps more recognizably) known as “split personality disorder”. This diagnosis seems to yield a lot of presumption. That is one of the reasons why I started this blog. Despite what some media leads you to believe, I am as capable as any other person! I have limitations, roadblocks and down days. One thing I do not have is medication. After years of trying all sorts of colorful pill concoctions, I realized I was developing more problems than I had begun with. After an unfortunate overdose in 2014, I vowed to try and heal myself from the inside out using food. I traded the vibrant-colored pills for a rainbow of fruit and vegetables and now I feel better than I have for at least 7 years.

*** PLEASE NOTE: I am not saying medication is not an important part of healing! Everyone has a different level of need. I am also not suggesting that food can cure mental illness. However, it CAN improve your quality of life! ***

My website is called “Go Figure” because of my exciting self-discovery that feeling well is not as hard as I thought it would be. I still have a long journey a head of me, but now I truly feel I have the foundation on which to build a wonderful and energetic life!
